South Boston

South Boston, commonly referred to as “Southie,” is historically known for its Irish-Catholic roots and is emerging as one of the city’s up and coming neighborhoods. Densely populated, the area offers a range of residential options to buy or rent, such as three-decker Victorian row houses, some of which have experienced condo conversion, luxury low-rise condominiums (Allele and Lofts at 36 A Street) and full-service luxury buildings (The Macallen and Court Square Press). In addition to local eating and drinking establishments, the area features the city’s best beaches, boardwalks, waterfront and Castle Island, a large park encompassing a Revolutionary War fort. This area has become home to young professionals and empty nesters due to its easy accessibility to downtown, particularly the Financial District, public transportation, major highways as well as Seaport and South End attractions and restaurants.
