Boston’s housing market is booming. Not only is this evident in the condo market, but also in the luxury rental market. One of the newest luxury rental buildings is The Kensington, located at 665 Washington Street, in one of the hottest neighborhoods in town… the Downtown Crossing area. I recently toured this property and was wowed by what I found.
Developed by National Development, there are 381 apartments from which to choose (although approximately 35% are rented already) that include the following floor plans, square footage and current rental rates:
- Open One Bedroom, One Bathroom (553–940 sf): $2,920–$7,470
- One Bedroom, One Bathroom (578–843 sf): 3,305–$8,050
- One Bedroom Plus Den, One Bathroom (767–831 sf): $3,560–$7,895
- Two Bedrooms, Two Bathrooms (970–1,294 sf): $4,715–$9,260
- Two Bedrooms Plus Den, Two Bathrooms (1,558 sf): $10,645. Only one unit with this floor plan is still available.
Two floors of penthouse apartments offer studio, one- and two-bedroom options.
Unit finishes are contemporary and tasteful, yet environmentally responsible. From recycled glass countertops to oak flooring, European-style cabinetry, stainless appliances and subway tile backsplashes, you’ll like what you see. The high ceilings and oversized windows create an even more spacious feel. An in-unit washer and dryer add convenience.
What stands out most to me at The Kensington are the amenities. The place is chock full of them, from a 24/7 concierge (like you would find in a hotel) who can arrange your dry cleaning, package delivery, dog walking and dinner reservations, or whatever you may need, to garage parking for residents only ($425/month), electric car plug-in stations, and on-site 24-hour emergency maintenance.
The common or community spaces are awesome too. The lobby is contemporary, bright and inviting but there’s more. Club Kensington is just that, a club, offering all the benefits of luxury living in a cool, hip environment. There’s Unplugged, a quiet e-lounge; Skydeck, an unmatched rooftop deck with a fireplace, TV and an outdoor pool; a yoga studio and a fitness center; a coffee station; a lounge where you can hang out, shoot some pool or entertain and also a techno-equipped place to work, study or collaborate. Pets are welcome here (two per apartment) and there’s even a Groom Room where you can wash your dog.
If you’re looking for stylish, full-service luxury apartment living in downtown Boston and a vibrant community to meet and greet, The Kensington is definitely worth checking out.
