Some say that while grey will never truly go out of style because it’s a neutral, but that it’s time at the top is coming to an end. True, it has reached peak popularity with Benjamin Moore naming its Metropolitan Grey 2019 Color of the Year, but there’s a reason it’s so darn popular – it looks great! The right shade of grey can bring out the warm or cool tones in your home making it feel sophisticated and inviting. With hundreds of shades from which to choose, I’ve narrowed it down to a few of my tried and true favorites.
Metropolitan Grey
Let’s kick off the list with the current title holder. A cool grey that pairs perfectly with a bold color like navy or other light neutrals.

Kendall Charcoal
Another hit off of Benjamin Moore’s 2019 Color Trend Palette, this deep grey brings the drama.
Revere Pewter
HGTV’s Christina Anstead once said this is a color they use in 90% of their Orange County flips. It leans more on the beige side of the grey scale and is the warmest of the greys on my list which contributes to its versatility. It even makes for gorgeous kitchen cabinets.
Barren Plain
Often described as “the best paint color”, it’s a light grey with warm undertones creating a calm and clean aesthetic.
